Donations

Here is how you can help . . .

LNERCA is a volunteer run charity, entirely independent of the NYMR.
Funding for its restoration projects comes from membership subscriptions, bequests, charitable donations and grants.

The cost of a typical coach restoration project is anything from
£50,000 upwards, despite the fact that much of the labour required is provided voluntarily by LNERCA members.

Purchases from our shop also supplement this income (so please visit our shop page for more details).

Donations can be made with an internet bank transfer to our bank account which is Lloyds Bank, sort code 30-99-50, account no. 22414668

If you are a UK taxpayer please consider the Gift Aid option too, as this will apply if you pay tax in the UK. Click here to download the form.

When you make donations out of your net income, the charity reclaims the tax, which you paid on that part of your gross income or capital gains. For every £1 you give as a donation, we are able to reclaim another 25p.

The Association’s current major project, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund

This is centred on the restoration of an historic railway carriage, number ECJS189, built in 1894, for use as a working Victorian dining car on the NYMR. Once restored the coach will not only be used for dining, but also educational visits by school groups, family learning activities and hosting community groups interested in Victorian heritage.

The project will enable people to learn about railway travel in Victorian times by experiencing it for themselves. The coach has been partially restored externally, but its interior requires almost complete reconstruction.

Apart from ECJS189, LNERCA has another 14 vehicles waiting to be restored to working order.
